Once again the commuters in the national Capital found it tough to travel as Dehi Metro shut down 20 of its stations on Friday owing to the protest in the city. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) closed stations including the busiest Rajiv Chowk and Kahsmere Gate following the security advise issued by the Delhi Police to prevent the protesters from joining the ongoing protest at Jama Masjid and various other places such as India Gate, Jantar Mantar and Jamia Millia.
Multiple protests were organised across the city including the mega protest at Jama Masjid, Dariyanganj, Seelampur and Delhi Gate against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
“Entry & exit gates of Mandi House and Janpath are closed. Interchange facility is available at Mandi House,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a tweet.
Soon after, it tweeted that Kashmere Gate and Central Secretariat stations were also closed.
The other stations that were closed due the protest were Johri Enclave, Shiv Vihar and Dilshad Garden.
“Of the 285 stations, Chawri Bazar, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate on violet line, Jaffrabad and Maujpur-Babarpur on Pink Line and Jamia Millia Islamia on Magenta Line are closed as per instructions of security agencies. Rest of the metro network is operating as per schedule,” the DMRC had tweeted.
“The following stations are currently closed: Central Secretariat, Chawri Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Delhi Gate, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Khan Market, Janpath, Pragati Maidan, Mandi House, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Shiv Vihar, Johri Enclave,” DMRC said.
However, the DMRC resumed the functions and opened all the entry and exit gates of the stations except the Jaffarabad and Maujpur- Babarpur stations on Pink line.
“Entry and exit gates at all stations, except Jama Masjid, Jaffrabad and Maujpur-Babarpur have been opened,” tweeted DMRC.
