Over 25 lakh Delhi Metro commuters facing poor mobile signal connectivity, especially in the Heritage Line, have something to cheer before Deepwali, as Delhi Metro rail Corporation (DMRC) has completed  the installation of  required infrastructure to provide good mobile network connectivity between Mandi House to Kashmere Gate.

According to the DMRC, the work to provide mobile network connectivity work in the Pink and Magenta Line will also be completed by next month.  "The laying of network lines takes place only after the entire metro corridors gets completed and starts operational due to various technical reasons. Currently, the infrastructure for providing proper mobile connectivity has been completed and the signal is perfect in the Violet Line from Mandi House to Kashmere Gate.  Also, the work is in under process at the Pink and Magenta Line and is expected to be completed by this coming months," said a DMRC official.

After receiving a large number of complaints from the daily passengers, DMRC in the month of July issued tenders for providing mobile network connectivity in the underground stations of Heritage Line and all the underground stations of  Pink and Magenta line has been awarded and the work of laying infrastructure in tunnels. However, the signal issue is still same in the newly inaugurated Pink and Magenta Line.

"Finally after nearly one year, the passengers can inform their parents and friends if they are getting late as earlier there was a huge problem in this section from ITO to Kashemere Gate due to the poor connection," said Ridhi Manchanda who travels daily in the stretch.

However, another passenger travelling who travels daily in the Magenta Line from Botancial Garden to Munirka said, "It is good that the DMRC has finally provided solution for poor connectivity but the issue still persists in the Pink and Magenta Line. The issue in Magenta Line should also be addressed  as the entire network drops after train enters the underground station of this section. One cannot even inform their home, friends or office in any emergency while travelling in this stretch."
