The bone-chilling winter that had gripped the city for the last few days gave way to a bright sunny day on Sunday. The sun shone for most part of the day bringing the much needed respite to Delhiites. However, the relief may prove to be shortlived as the MeT department has predicted another spell of light rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sunday started with shallow fog in the morning, but the sky remained clear throughout the day. The pleasant day witnessed a comfortable maximum temperature of 21°C, a notch above the season’s average. The minimum temperature recorded Sunday was 8°C, a notch above the season’s average. Humidity oscillated between 100 per cent and 67 per cent. According to the Northern Railways, 12 trains were running late due to fog in various parts of northern India.
However, flights operated without any delays or cancellation from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport as the visibility was better in comparison to other days of the week, said a statement released by the IGI. The MeT Office has forecast a similar weather on Monday. The maximum and the minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 20°C and 7°C, respectively.
“However, Tuesday and Wednesday may have rainfall due to the onset of a new western disturbance,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department.
