After a relatively pleasant weekend, the first day of the week remained rather hot with mercury soaring slightly as it reached to a scorching 40 degree Celsius. According to the Met officials' forecast, temperature in the following week will remain above the 40 degree mark. The chances of rainfall in the week to come are remote.

"Circulation in central Madhya Pradesh has led to the prevalence of easterly cool winds over the Delhi-NCR region. The easterly winds will continue to blow over the Delhi-NCR region, with no change in the weather for the next two days. The mercury will, however, soar slightly as it will remain above the 40 degree Celsius mark. There is no impact of the western disturbances. Rainfall is not likely to occur either," said Dr RK Jenamani, Director-in-Charge Indian Meteorological office.

The maximum temperature on Monday remained at 40.3 degree Celsius, 2 degree higher than the maximum temperature recorded on Sunday. The minimum temperature remained at 28 degrees Celsius, one notch above the minimum normal temperature. Delhiites continued to sweat as the humidity levels elevated. The maximum humidity in the air on Monday was 78 per cent. The minimum was 45 per cent.

The skies remained partly cloudy.

According to the officials of the Indian Metrological Department, the maximum temperature on Tuesday will remain at 41 degrees Celsius and on Wednesday the maximum temperature will remain at 43 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature on Wednesday and Thursday will be 29 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius respectively. They reiterated that in the following week rainfall will only take place if there would be an unexpected change in the weather condition of the Eastern region.
