Celebrating the variety of refreshments Delhi has fostered over the years, Delhi Tourism's 'Mehfil-E-Sharbat' seeks to bring some respite from the rising temperatures in the city with the help of traditional sharbats, shikanjis and pannas, alongside modern herbal refreshments.
Mehfil-e-Sharbat Festival at Dilli Haat Janakpuri is set to offer the best of Indian summer refreshments from June 7 to 9.
Sudhir Sobti, Chief Manager (PR) of Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) said that Indian summers without our beloved traditional refreshments of sharbats, nimbupani, sattu and the like are incomplete. "Perhaps one of the most prominent memories we all have had is that of summer refreshments given to us as kids! Mehfil-E-Sharbat is simply the attempt to provide that sense of respite in Delhi's heat," he said.
In order to engage the visitors, Dilli Haat (Janakpuri) will proffer enthralling cultural performances every evening post 6 pm. Events like Bollywood night, Sufi night with Johnny Sufi and Punjabi night have been organised. Other events such as comedy shows, fashion show and singing competition have been lined up as well to ensure consistent engagement and entertainment, the official said.
Apart from featuring a variety of refreshment stalls, the three-day festival will also feature traditional handloom and handicrafts and food stalls for its visitors.
