Meet held to improve capacity building source in Gurugram

The Gurugram administration held a meeting to work on improving financial and capacity building resources at the divisional commissioner’s office. Officials from the planning commission and IDFC bank attended the meeting.

“We are planning how to monitor or supervise our resources so that we can improve capacity building in Gurugram. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) do not even use RS 350 crore in a year while their money using capacity is around Rs 2 thousand crore,” divisional Commissioner D Suresh told The Pioneer.

“So we are working on that. The actual problem is why these departments are not able to use their financial resources properly. We are also working on that how we can improve our property tax collections, how to improve our resources, or financial resources so that they can work with their responsibility,” he added.

On Monday, the administration officials discussed several ideas on this matter and referred the same to MCG chief V Umashanker. Further, the administration was also planning to use private technology or private resources to tackle the issue. Administration officials are also mulling outsourcing MCG and HUDA services like water distribution, solid waste management and street lights to private groups.

“If we are facing manpower problem or monitoring and supervisory issues is that possible to outsource these responsibility. We are also working to club specially MCG’s small project worth Rs 10 to 20 lakh to big project and outsource them so that their completion work will complete on time,” he added.
