Keeping in mind the rise in trauma deaths, (All India Institute of Medical Science) AIIMS’s JPN Apex Trauma Centre is holding a three-day World Trauma Congress (WTC 2016) with an aim to improve trauma care goals at international level. “In the recent years, trauma deaths have become one of the global problems across the globe. Certainly, trauma is causing disabilities among the Indian population,” said AIIMS director MC Misra.
“We are working on a web application through which a doctor at emergency department would be able to know about trauma patients’ health from an ambulance itself. This will include pre-hospital notification, less time in reaching emergency department, patient care and rehabilitation,” said Misra.
Pointing out the shortage of trauma centers in India, Misra said for the critical care patients, trauma cases are highly preventable if patient reaches the hospital in a lesser time. People should follow safety culture. Road accidents can highly be avoided by driving safely, he added.
From 17-20 August, over 1300 national and international delegates, surgeons, physicians under one roof would be discussing ideas/topics to decrease the injury/trauma related deaths disabilities. “The meetings would focus on holistic trauma including trauma systems, trauma surgery, trauma critical care, neuro-trauma, orthopedic trauma, trauma reconstructive surgery, disaster and military surgery, rehabilitation, injury prevention along with issues related to the UN Decade of Action on Road Safety,” said Misra.
