Former law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar on Friday criticised the media and police for being nexus to mar his image and show him in bad light.
Reasserting that he did not forge any documents, Tomar said he has a “lot to say” on the “political conspiracy” leading to his arrest and nearly two months long incarceration. “My records have been tampered with and misplaced. The police and media, hand in hand, have marred my image and show me in bad light,” said Tomar.
Responding to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s statement in Delhi Assembly session against him, former law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar said on Friday that the CM may have been misled by “exaggerated media reports”.
Talking to The Pioneer, Tomar, who is currently out on bail, said, “If a lie is repeated a hundred times, then it almost seems like truth. There was no communication between me and Arvind Kejriwal as I was under police custody. All negative stories that came out in media coloured his perception. I am very much in my party and will abide by whatever it decides.”
The Tri Nagar MlA was strident in his attack on the media saying that the Press had lapped up all negative stories against him “fed by the police”. “I have a lot to say now and I will definitely do that. The public, who have been bombarded by negative stories about me fed by the police, need to know the truth of political conspiracy against me by BJP,” he said.
Angry with disclosures pertaining to Tomar’s alleged fake degrees, the AAP had referred the issue to the party’s internal lokpal which is yet to take a call on the issue. After defending him initially, Kejriwal had accused Tomar of “keeping him in the dark” and “misleading him” by showing certain RTI documents which later turned out to be fake.
“I was never in the wrong. The police are being used as a political weapon against me. All the big IPS officers have been set after me. Is not the conspiracy clearIJ I will definitely answer to the party’s lokpal given a chance to do so,” Tomar said.
Tomar was arrested following a probe by the Delhi police on the complaint of Bar Council of Delhi that he had obtained a fake law degree from a Bihar college.
An FIR was registered against Tomar on June 8 at Hauz Khas police station for alleged offences of cheating, forgery, using forged documents as genuine, forgery with intent to cheat and criminal conspiracy under the IPC.
