In an accident reported from Delhi’s district, a truck on Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) duty carrying dead animals overturned on Thursday at around 11.40 pm. The incident occurred at National Highway-24, near Max Hospital crossing.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Pankaj Kumar Singh said, “A police control room (PCR) call was received around 11.40 pm regarding a truck carrying dead animals which overturned last night at National Highway-24 near Max hospital crossing.”

“It was on MCD duty which collects dead animals and takes them to a rendering plant at Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh,” the DCP said.

Police officials claimed that the cause of accident was apparently due to a burst tyre, following which the truck lost its balance and crashed. The driver of the truck immediately fled the spot after the accident, police said.

“However, a case of negligent driving has been registered at Kalyanpuri police station against the driver of the truck who absconded from the spot. We are further investigating the matter,” the DCP added.
