Mayors of civic bodies corrupt, hence no invite from world bodies: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not giving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal political clearance to attend the C-40 Climate Change Summit in Denmark, saying the BJP is trying to divert people's attention from the fact that municipalities run by it are not fit to represent the city on a global platform.

Slamming the Central Government over the move, senior party leader and Rajaya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said mayors of Delhi's municipal bodies are very corrupt and that is why they did not get an invitation from the world platforms to represent Delhi.

Addressing the mediapersons, he said, "It is a proud moment for Delhi that the Chief Minister addressed the summit through video conferencing despite political obstructions from the Centre. The people of Delhi are well aware of the efforts put up

by the Delhi Government to combat air pollution through measures like odd-even and others."

He said by not allowing Kejriwal to attain this summit the centre has disrespected the people of Delhi and the BJP is trying to divert the attention of people from the fact that the Mayors of the municipal bodies run by their party are not in a position to represent the city in a world platform.

Singh also slammed Delhi BJP president of Delhi unit Manoj Tiwari for sharing a video of garbage burning. "It is unfortunate that an elected representative is sharing a video of garbage burning in Delhi and claiming that pollution is increasing. Clearing the garbage is the work of MCD which is run by the BJP," said Singh.
