A day after Max Hospital Shalimar Bagh started functioning following Delhi Government order cancelling its licence was stayed by the Financial Commissioner of Delhi, the relatives of the diseased staged protest outside the hospital, demanding immediate arrest of the doctor responsible for the death of newborn twins.
Ashok Kumar, father of the deceased twins, said that the licence of the hospital should be cancelled and the doctor be arrested without any delay. Kumar also said he will approach Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for further help.
The grandfather of the babies demanded a CBI probe into the case after Financial Commissioner (an appellate authority) stayed the Delhi Government’s order cancelling the hospital’s licence.
Addressing media on Thursday, 48-year-old Kailash, the grandfather of the baby boy, who later died at a nursing home in Pitampura while his sister was still born, alleged that the family was “not even “informed” about the stay order.
“We tried to silently protest in front of Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh, but the police removed us from there. The Delhi Government had taken the decision that would have served as a warning to other hospitals. Our protest will continue until we get justice,” he said adding that not only the doctor but whole the hospital administration should be booked for the gross negligence.
The committee formed by Delhi Government to probe the incident had stated that it was the carelessness of the hospital as well as the doctors. However, allowing the management to function again shows that the justice is being denied, the family said.
One of the relatives of Ashok Kumar who was also protesting said that all the parties are taking the issue for political benefits. “We want justice not politics,” he said.
