Maruti employee robbed at gunpoint

A Maruti Suzuki India employee was robbed at gunpoint in South West Delhi’s Dwarka area late on Sunday night. Two armed assailants forcibly entered his car and dumped him on the Dwarka-Bamdoli Road.

According to police, Randhir Singh was headed to work from his Najafgarh residence on the Palam-Gurgaon Road at 10.50 pm. According to the victim, on reaching Dwarka Sector 21 traffic signal, two armed men encircled his car.

The duo brandished pistols and asked Singh to turn the ignition off. “I thought of speeding away but I knew I’d be shot. They barged into the car and were joined by two more. They divested me of my wallet, cell phone and dented the SIM card,” said Singh.

The robbers took a U-turn from the red light and headed towards Bamdoli Road. The four assailants planned on killing their victim, but had a change of heart. They offloaded Singh and hotfooted with his car.

Singh told The Pioneer that after being left high and dry, he first called on a farmhouse but no one responded. He went to a temple nearby but no help was there either.

“Finally, he flagged down a truck and made a PCR call from the driver’s cell phone at 11.35 pm. A police team reached the spot in a while,” a police official said.

“Facial composites of the two assailants are being made,” said a police official. A case under the relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Dwarka Sector 23 Police Station.
