A 24-year-old woman allegedly chopped-off genital of her 35-year-old boyfriend after he refused to marry her and have physical relationship with her in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area on Wednesday night. Ravi, a street vendor, was admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital after the grisly incident, where he underwent surgery. He was allegedly attacked at his girlfriend’s house, where he was called by her relative at around 11.30 pm, police said. The woman has been absconding along with her family members since the crime.
A senior police officer said, “As per the complaint submitted by the victim, he received a call from the sister-in-law of his girlfriend asking him to come to their home in the O-block area of Mangolpuri on late Wednesday night.
A few minutes into the conversation, the 24-year old girl allegedly started putting pressure on Ravi to get married. However, he refused. A heated altercation ensued between them. The woman then took him to a washroom where she undressed him and forced herself on him. When the victim pushed her off, the woman got enraged and used a kitchen knife to chop off his genital.
“At the time of the incident, brother and sister- in-law of the 24-year-old woman were present in the house. They both did nothing to stop the woman,” said the official.
Post the attack, Ravi rushed out of the house shouting for help. Some neighbours informed police and rushed him to hospital. After a surgery in the Sanjay Gandhi hospital, he was referred to the Jaipur Golden Hospital. Police confirmed that Ravi is out of danger.
Police said after the incident, the woman and her family members are absconding, adding that they have formed teams to nab her. The victim lives with his family in the F-block area of Mangolpuri, a few blocks away from the woman’s house. The man was in a relationship with the woman for the past four years.
