Police were left in a tizzy on Friday morning when they found chopped body parts of a man dumped in two separate places in north Delhi’s Timarpur area. The body parts — head, hands and legs — were found wrapped in a bed-sheet in Gopalpur village around 6.30 am on Friday by an auto driver.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, North District, Jatin Narwal, said prima facie it is a case of murder and further leads into the case can be ascertained after the post-mortem examination is done and report is made available to police. The deceased hasn’t been identified yet, the DCP said.
later in the day around 1.30 pm, the chopped torso of the body was found wrapped in a sack near Sanjay Akhada in Majnu Ka Tila, the official said. The police official said it is suspected that the man was murdered a couple of days ago. There were clothes on the body and while the face hadn’t been smashed, the back portion of the head bore several injuries, he said.
It is suspected that the man was murdered somewhere else and the body parts were dumped so that the identity of the deceased cannot be established by police.
“An auto driver informed us around 7 am that some body parts wrapped in a polythene and later in a bed sheet were found by him. A forensic team was deputed to study the spot,” said the police official.
The police team, after finding the chopped body in the morning, started carrying out a search of the area, and later found the chopped torso, he said.
Sleuths have begun scanning the CCTV footages from the nearby areas to gain clues to the accused.
