Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari joined devotees in offering Arghya on the occasion of Chhath puja in Sonia Vihar. Tiwari travelled 7 km in Yamuna in a motor boat greeting the devotees at the vast Sonia Vihar-Jagatpuri Chhath ghat.
He said, "I pray to Chhathi Maa to give good health, education and employment to all citizens of Delhi and the country. I also pray to Bhagwan Surya Narayan to glorify the lives of all devotees."
He said that Chhath is not only a religious festival but a day to pledge for environmental protection.
Tiwari, accompanied by BJP office-bearers Manish Singh, Ajay Mahawar, Kailash Jain, Neelkant Bakshi, Praveen Shankar Kapoor and Anand Trivedi and councillors Pramod Gupta and others, went to Chhath ghats set up at Jagatpuri, Mayur Vihar, ITO, New Azad Nagar, Jamrudpur, Chhatarpur, Rithala and Narela and greeted lakhs of devotees.
He also sang Chhath bhajans at the ghats. His bhajan "Kaha Paivo Sone Ke Katoriya Doodh, Kaha Paivo Paan Ke Bidwa" etc. mesmerized the devotees.
