After The Pioneer’s report about a 1990 batch IAS officer VC Pandey felling into an open manhole on the Raj Niwas road on Thursday, the Delhi Government directed Public Works Department (PWD) on Friday to cover the manhole.
Pandey, who is holding the charge of Secretary of Art and Culture in the Delhi Government, had gone for a walk when he fell into the open manhole. His right leg and toes of the left leg were fractured and he suffered severe injuries on his left hands. In a letter to PWD Minister Satyendra Jain who resides on the ministerial bungalow at Raj Niwas road, Pandey had demanded an enquiry into the matter and strict action against erring officials of the PWD, and North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC).
According to Pandey, he was rescued by passersby after they heard his distress calls.
