Delhi Police has arrested a 32-year-old man, who was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh and was wanted for killing a Delhi Police constable in 2015.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, said the accused, Naveen Khatri, was one of the conspirators of the Mianwali case, in which three persons, including a Delhi Police assistant sub-inspector and an alleged gangster were killed.

Naveen has been previously involved in more than five cases of contract killing, attempt to murder, Arms Act, robbery etc. He came in contact with Surender Khatri alias Samunder Khatri, who was his neighbour.

Samunder came out on parole January 16, 2015. Jitender Khatri, who was posted as a constable with the Delhi Police was gunned down by Samunder, Naveen and their associates in Narela on January 17.

The constable was collecting information about Samunder Khatri’s gang. Naveen has also been associated earlier with gangster Manjeet Mahal’s gang.

On April 30, Monu Dariyapur, his two personal security officers assistant sub-inspector Vijay Kumar and constable Kuldeep along with his two friends Arun Shastri and Yogesh were attacked in Mianwali Nagar.

Some armed men had started firing indiscriminately at their car killing Monu, Kumar and Shastri and injuring the other two.

During investigation, it was found that Monu was previously a gang member of Sonu Dariyapur. They were friends  but after Monu got married to Sonu’s cousin, the latter decided to eliminate him.

Sonu along with his other associates including Naveen fired at the car carrying Monu and his wife in 2006. In this firing, driver of the car was killed and Monu and his wife were critically injured. After that incident, they were provided security by the Delhi Police.

Sonu hatched a conspiracy with his gang members including Naveen for killing Monu and they succeeded in killing him on April 30, the DCp said.
