A 30-year-old man was arrested after his alleged attempt to commit robbery in a jewellery shop in Geeta Colony area of East Delhi on Sunday failed, said police. The accused, identified as Kaushal, a resident of Bihar,  was living in New Delhi district for some time. Police have taken him under judicial custody and further probe is underway, said DCP (East) Bhairo Singh Gujjar.

The incident came to the fore when the accused allegedly entered into a jewellery shop owned by one Kimti lal and asked him to show some jewelleries. When the owner showed some jewelleries, the accused tried to snatch all of it and flee, said Singh. Acting spontaneous, the owner grabbed him, but the accused freed himself by pointing a katta (country-made weapon) at him. Fearing situation going out of control, the accused tried to flee empty handed, but some locals got hold of him outside the shop, said police.
