A woman hailing from the North-East was allegedly raped by her friend in South Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area on Thursday evening. The accused has been arrested by police. Police said that the duo lived together for over five years. They registered a case after a formal complaint was submitted to them. The accused too is from the North-East and he had befriended the girl on the pretext of marrying her.
According to police, the incident came to light when the victim’s live-in partner fled the residence. She felt cheated as the man whom she lived with had left her in the lurch. Having exhausted all her efforts to get him back, the victim informed police about the incident. A medical examination of the girl was conducted. Police officials said that a case of rape was registered on the basis of her statement and the medical examination report.
The victim was in a live-in relationship with the accused for around five years. The accused had promised to marry her but when she got pregnant, the accused fled the house and left. A case of rape was registered at Vasant Vihar police station. The accused was arrested.
