A 23-year-old man was stabbed to death by his friend who suspected him of having a role in murder of his brother a year back, in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar on Sunday.

According to a senior police official, the deceased identified as Balbeer, who was at his home in Guru Nanak Nagar Colony of Tilak Nagar area when his friend Shera took him away around midnight on Sunday.

later, Shera informed Balbeer’s family that he was stabbed by someone and admitted to a hospital. After informing Balbeer’s family, Shera ran away.

“After the accused informed Balbeer’s family, they started panicking and rushed to the hospital immediately,” said the official.

When the family members rushed to the hospital doctors told them that they tried resuscitating Balbeer but in vain. Doctors said the victim died due to excessive bleeding. Police reached the hospital around 3.30 am and carried out preliminary enquiry in the matter.

Police said that Shera had himself admitted Balbeer to the hospital after he allegedly stabbed him in the thigh. Balbeer, however, died at the hospital due to blood loss from his injury.

Shera is absconding and efforts are being made to apprehend him. Preliminary enquiry revealed that he suspected Balbeer of having a role behind murder of his brother two years ago although they were on talking terms, said a police officer.
