The father of a 35-year-old software engineer in Noida, in a complaint to police, has raised suspicions over his daughter-in-law for stage-managing the disappearance of his son. The man has gone missing for the past two months. Police have launched an investigation into the case.

According to the police, Abhinav Mittal, is a resident of Sector 15 in Noida, went missing on October 17 soon after he returned from a walk with his wife, Jyoti. Prior to his disappearance, Abhinav was working with a private IT company located in Noida’s Sector 58 area. “Abhinav had quit his job in September this year and was planning on floating his own firm,” said a senior police official.

Police said that as per the complaint received from Abhinav’s father, SN Mittal, his son had gone for a walk on the evening of October 17, 2013. “Around 6.30 pm my daughter-in-law, Jyoti, who is an Associate Professor with a leading university in Noida, having returned from her office also went to join him,” said SN Mittal. “When they returned from the walk an hour later, Jyoti was very angry and stormed into her room, while Abhinav sat at his computer and started doing some work,” Mittal said.

As per the victim’s father, he spoke to Abhinav around 8 pm from the train as he was on his way back from Dehradun. “Abhinav said he would pick me up from the railway station even though I told him that I would take the Metro Rail home,” Mittal said. However, Abhinav never reached the station and he allegedly left the house without anyone coming to know. His mother and wife realised he was not at home around

9.00 pm, police said. “He left his phone, cash and cards behind,” said Abhinav’s mother, Manju. “We looked everywhere for him and also contacted all his friends and relatives but could not find him,” she added.Victim’s parents have alleged in their complaint to the police that the couple, which had been married for nearly seven years was having a marital discord. They further alleged that their daughter-in-law was in a relationship with another man. “We are investigating the case in detail and have also launched a search for the missing man,” said the police official.
