A 37-year-old man was stabbed to death by a group of unidentified men outside his house in Northeast Delhi's Khajoori Khas area on Sunday night. Senior police officials confirmed that robbery was not the motive behind the murder.
Meanwhile, family of the victim alleged that 15 days ago, he had a fight with one Istiyaaq over finances which was later resolved.
Aasif, the deceased, was out, taking a stroll near his house when he allegedly got into a scuffle with a group of men. The incident took place on Sunday night at around 8pm, when Aasif was alone at his brother's house while his family went to attend a wedding.
Aasif lived with his wife and son. Since there was a wedding to attend, his wife and son accompanied by his brother Naseer's family went out in the afternoon,” said a senior police officer of the Northeast district.
According to the officer, the group of men stabbed Aasif multiple times on his chest after which they fled from the spot.
In the aftermath of Aasif's murder in full public view, no eyewitness has come forward. On the other hand, one of the locals made a call to the Khajoori Khas police station following which a team reached the crime scene and rushed Aasif to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Police said that they have registered a case of murder under relevant sections of the IPC at the Khajoori Khas police station. Further investigation is on.
