A 26-year-old man called up the Police Control Room (PCR) and provided his address after killing his 13-month-old daughter by slitting her throat and then severely injuring his wife by stabbing her repeatedly as he doubted her fidelity.
local police officials arrested him on the charges of murder. The gory incident took place on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, said police.
“The accused was identified as Krishna alias Kanhaiya and his wife was identified as Sushiliya (25),” said DCP (northwest) Vijay Singh. The infant was identified as Sakshi.
The incident took place in Azadpur village at 2.20 am. According to police officials, Krishna started abusing his wife after they had dinner and started beating her up.
“Shushiliya was sleeping when Krishna woke her up and started questioning her over her illicit relationships with another man,” said a police officer.
“Shushiliya asked him to refrain from the outlandish allegations against her. However, Krishna got upset by his wife’s defence and stabbed her with a knife, he brought from the kitchen,” added the officer.
Their daughter Sakshi was sleeping on the mat when Krishna pulled her up and slit her throat, screaming to his wife that she was not his daughter. While Sushiliya tried to raise an alarm, Krishna attacked her and stabbed her repeatedly, said the official.
“He made a PCR call himself and confessed to his crime by informing police that he had just murdered his daughter,” said the DCP. A police team was rushed to the spot where they found the toddler lying in a pool of blood and his wife severely injured. They rushed the duo to Babu Jag Jivan Ram Hospital where the toddler was declared brought dead, however, Sushiliya was admitted and is said to be stable,” said the official.
During interrogation, Krishna confessed to his crime and said he had serious doubts on the character of his wife and therefore he took the severe step. The couple got married over two years ago. Krishna worked as a mason and hailed from Bihar. Their life turned upside down after Krishna started questioning his wife as he suspected that she was having an illicit relationship with another man.
“We have booked him under IPC Sections 302 (Punishment for murder) and 307 (Attempt to murder) and a case is registered in Adarsh Nagar police station,” said the DCP.
