Four unidentified bike-borne assailants allegedly robbed a gold chain from a laxmi Nagar- based businessman-turned- politician at gunpoint in East Delhi late on Tuesday night while he was heading to a temple in Anand Vihar.

The complainant, Vikas Jain, who claims to be a local leader of the BJP, has alleged one of the men pointed a pistol at him and fled with his gold chain.

Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) said that they have received a complaint from Vikas Jain.

As per the statement given to the local police, Vikas Jain had parked his scooty and was heading to the temple when he was stopped by two men on a motorcycle. “The two men were asking Jain about some address. While he was talking to one of them, another biker pointed a desi katta at him and asked for his valuables. Meanwhile, two other bike-borne assailants came and robbed him. Since the incident happened on a red light, the accused sped away when a crowd started gathering,” said a senior police officer.

Police said they have received similar complaints of robbery from Vivek Vihar.
