Man pours acid on wife, dumps her in W Bengal

In a horrific incident, a man first threw acid on his 36-year-old wife and then instead of getting her treated, he locked her inside their rented accommodation for more than six months. Her husband then forcibly took her to West Bengal and left her stranded at Burdwan railway station. Writhing in pain, the woman somehow stayed at the railway station for nearly 48 hours. With her sheer grit and strength, she managed to get help from the locals and returned to Delhi to lodge a complaint with the Delhi Police.

The woman identified as Nisarul reported the matter to Mukherjee Nagar police station and narrated her ordeal. The woman said that the torture started when she raised her voice against the first marriage of her husband. Following her complaint, police has arrested her husband her husband Raju Sheikh.

Nisarul, 36, also accused Raju Sheikh of being involved in an illicit affair with another man. Nisarul was married and was living with her first husband in West Bengal. Raju Sheikh enticed her and brought her to Delhi where the duo got married and started living in Dhirpur area of North West Delhi.

Six months later, when Nisarul got to know that Raju was already married and that his first wife lived in the same neighbourhood where they lived, she asked him to leave the first wife. Enraged over being reminded about the same topic, on October 15 last year, Raju took Nisarul to a secluded factory area on the pretext of returning her gold jewellery and money and poured a bottle of acid on her. In her complaint, the woman stated that she received burn injuries on her private parts, chest, hands and shoulder.

Raju locked her inside their rented room and used to leave for his shop where he did stitching work.

Few days later, when Nisarul begged Raju to take her to her native town in West Bengal, he boarded a train for West Bengal.

Once the duo de-boarded the train, Raju left Nisarul on the platform and fled the place. Passers-by helped Nisarul and she somehow managed to reach Delhi. Based on her complaint, police registered a case under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Mukherjee Nagar police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North West district Milind Dumbere said that a case has been registered under Sections 498A, 326 of the Indian Penal Code and Raju has been arrested.
