Man in a hurry Kejri rushes slowpoke nodal divisions

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday reviewed the progress and respective action plans to help implement the party’s 70-point action plan, as promised in the AAP manifesto.

According to sources, the Government may announce subsidy in power and water after the two-day Assembly Session, beginning from February 23. Over a dozen nodal departments — formed to implement AAP’s 70-point agenda — presented their plans to the Chief Minister on Thursday.

The CM, however, expressed concern over the spiralling prices of essential commodities, including vegetables, and asked the officials to fix the loopholes. The officials have also been directed to find out whether there was any miscommunication between demand and supply.

Top sources told The Pioneer that the CM was not satisfied with the progress of the departments and has, reportedly, asked them for a detailed roadmap of all 70 programmes.

For instance, Power Department stated that huge amount of subsidy will be needed to give 50 per cent reduction in tariff. Besides, they also projected that peak demand may cross over 6,000 megawatt during summers, and the Government and discoms should be prepared for high power demands.

Similarly, the Finance Department presented a grim picture of financial health of the State as there is shortfall of around Rs3,000 crore in the current fiscal year. The finance also made it clear that the target of all revenue collecting departments were deliberately high.

The issue of full statehood was also discussed as it was not clear which department will handle it. Under the previous Government, the issue of statehood was being handled by the urban development department.

The Chief Executive of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Vijay Kumar also gave a presentation about the status of the availability of water in the city and the areas where water was being supplied by water tankers.

The CEO also gave a detailed presentation about the controversy surrounding Munak Canal. He also tried to explain it to the Chief Minister about the various legalities that were causing hindrances in the implementation of this important project of the DJB.

The Transport Department made presentation on buses and other initiatives being taken by it. Similarly MCD in its presentation focused on financial health and toilet blocks.

All Ministers of the Delhi Government, Chief Secretary DM Spolia, AAP leaders Ashish Khetan and Raghav Chadha were also present during presentation.
