Delhi Police has arrested a 40-year-old man for killing his wife, who was living with another man after she refused to reconcile their differences and lives with him at Central Delhi’s Dariyaganj area, police said on Sunday. Mandeep Singh Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) said that the accused has been identified as Chiraguddin.

Police said that on March 30, they had found the dead body of a woman at service road in Rajghat. Based on technical surveillance and local intelligence, local police managed to establish the identity of the woman, Shahana.

During the course of investigation, police found that Shahana got married to one Chiraguddin, a resident of Amorah in Uttar Pradesh, around nine years ago and had two children. "Chiraguddin, an e-rickshaw driver, used to visit his house in Amroha occasionally. The couple used to often argue since Shahana wanted to live with her husband in Delhi and insisted on shifting to Delhi with him but he refused," said the DCP.

A year ago, Shahana met Nasir and soon she shifted to Delhi with him where they got married. She also took away both the children with her. On several occasions, the accused Chiraguddin tried to convince  Shahana to get back with him, but she remained adaman.

Planning to kill his wife, Chiraguddin on March 29 met Shahana near the Fatwa chowk in Chandni Chowk and again requested her to return with him and live with him.

However, when she refused, the accused took her to a deserted place near Rajghat in his e-rickshaw. During an argument, Chiraguddin allegedly stabbed her on the neck and stomach with a knife and fled from there, said the DCP. Following the recovery of the body, police on Saturday arrested Chiraguddin from the GB road area on Saturday. Police said that they have also recovered the weapon of offence used in the commission of crime.
