A man in his mid twenties died while three of his friends sustained critical injuries after their Ford Ecosports car rammed into a tree in South Delhi's Saket area on Sunday morning. Police said they have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC.
Meanwhile, police said in the preliminary investigation, it appears that the accident took place due to the fog as the occupants of the car did not see the tree planted in the middle of the road.
A senior police official of the South district said the accident took place at around 6 am when Karan Patel, the deceased, was driving his Ford Ecosports car. While Ankit, Sohail Alam and Ravi, who were with Patel sustained injuries.
Police said the car allegedly rammed into a tree situated in the middle of the road. The impact of the collision was such that the vehicle was severely damaged.
Gas cutters were used to cut the vehicle and take out the car occupants who were rushed to AIIMS where Karan was declared brought dead while three of his friends are undergoing treatment, police said.
Police said that they are questioning the locals and are also scanning the CCTV footage of the area to establish the exact sequence of events. Further investigation is still on.
