A 50-year-old man committed suicide by jumping in front of the metro train at the Azadpur metro station on Monday morning. Police said they recovered a voter ID card and a suicide note from the possession of the deceased.
Jitendra Mani, DCP (Metro) said, “In the suicide note, the deceased, who worked in a gas agency had claimed that he was mentally harassed by his employer. Due to which, he took the extreme step.”
Police said the incident took place at around 7:35 am when Ishwari P, a resident of the Model Town area of Northwest Delhi, allegedly jumped in front of a Huda City Centre-bound metro train.
He was killed on the spot. It was not yet known what led him to take the extreme step, they said.
Services on the Yellow line were affected due to the incident for several minutes, they said.
The CISF and Delhi Metro authorities later sent the body to a nearby hospital. Police are probing the case.
