A 24-year-old man was bludgeoned to death following a quarrel over petty issue in north-west Delhi's Jahangirpuri area on the intervening night of Sunday-Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Gaurav, a resident of E-Block in Jahangirpuri. Police said that Gaurav was earlier arrested in a murder case in 2016.
According to a senior police official, a quarrel erupted between four people —Gaurav, Satish, Rocky and Ravi— over a petty issue on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday at Jahagirpuri area.
"They all live in E block in Jahangirpuri. Following the argument, Satish and Gaurav stabbed Rocky and Ravi leaving them injured and fled the spot," said the senior police official.
"Rocky and Ravi, the injured persons, had gone to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for the treatment. When they were leaving the hospital after getting first aid, they called some of their friends who joined them and started looking for Satish and Gaurav," said the senior police official.
"The group spotted Satish and Gaurav, along with their friends, at around 2 am in D-Block, Jahangirpuri and chased them. During the chase, they caught Gaurav in a street of D-Block while Satish managed to escape. They attacked Gaurav with bricks and bludgeoned him to death," said the senior police official.
"A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Jahangirpuri Police Station and police are looking to nab the accused persons. The body was sent to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for the post-mortem," said the senior police official. Police suspect the son of Ali Sher, a Bad Character (BC) of Jahangirpuri Police Station, was also involved in the alleged attack.
