Delhi Police arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly throwing his minor sister’s lover from a high-rise building in Ghaziabad last year.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, Pramod Singh Kushwah, said the accused Vikram Joshi, was arrested from near The White leaf Hotel in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

He had been declared a proclaimed offender by a Delhi Court and there was a bounty of Rs 20,000 on his head, the DCP added.

last year in April, Vishal Verma, a 22-year-old man and a tailor by profession, eloped with a girl belonging to a different caste of a village in Rajasthan. The couple reached Uttam Nagar and took refuge in Vishal’s sister’s home, since they were aware that their families would never approve of their relationship.

Vishal’s sister informed the girl’s parents and on May 2, the girl’s father Mukesh Joshi, her brother Vikram and cousin Avinash reached Uttam Nagar to resolve the issue. They assured Vishal and his family members that they would allow him to marry the girl once she turns 18.

Vishal and his family agreed to this proposal and allowed the girl’s family to take the couple back home. However, instead of taking them to their village, the girl’s family took Vishal to a building at Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad in UP, where they beat him up mercilessly.

After that they pushed Vishal from a high rise building and fled.

Ghaziabad Police registered a Zero FIR and transferred the case to Delhi. The police conducted several raids across various hideouts of the accused but they couldn’t be nabbed. The accused were declared proclaimed offenders by a Dwarka Court.

On March 8 this year, a reward of Rs 20,000 was declared on their arrest.

A Delhi Police special cell received information in the first week of April that Vikram Sharma, was roaming in Delhi and Ghaziabad to evade arrest.

later, police got information  that Vikram was in  Ahmedabad, and a team was sent there and the accused was arrested. During interrogation, the accused said that Vishal lived near their house in Gurara Village, Sikar in Rajasthan.

“He said that Vishal’s act brought dishonour to their family and they planned to eliminate him. He had been evading arrest by hiding in Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Noida, Ghaziabad and Baghpat,” said the officer.

The accused is married and has two children. Police are trying to arrest the other two accused.
