The Delhi Police on Friday arrested a 29-year-old man for the murder of a woman and her son in Southeast Delhi's Okhla Industrial area last month. Chinmoy Biswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Southeast district said, “We have arrested Sanjay, alias Babloo Kumar Mondal, for the murder of a woman and her son.

“Sanjay has been in live-in relationship with woman for the past seven to eight months. Fed up of the woman's dominating nature, he killed her to teach her a lesson. The accused further informed police that he bought the knife in front of the victims while the trio had gone to the Govindpuri market,” said the DCP.

On April 25, police  received information about two decomposed bodies of a woman and a boy, aged 8-10 years found at the Janta Jeevan Camp..

During enquiry, it was found that the woman and her son had been living with her husband Sanjay for past eight years. However, the identities of the two victims could not be established. At the crime scene, a school belt was found. After painstaking efforts made by the team under ACP Anant Mittal, the boy was identified as well as her mother, Sabitri Ghosh (30), a native of Malda, West Bengal.

After enquiring with the locals, the cops found that Savitri and her son were last seen with Sanjay on April 23 after which he went missing.

Multiple raids were conducted across West Bengal and Jharkhand and on April 29, Sanjaywas nabbed from Sahibganj.

“During sustained interrogation, he revealed that for past seven to eight months, he was in a live-in relationship with Savitri and her son too was living with them.

In the school record of the deceased child, in place of father's photo, Sanjay’s photo is affixed. He had created several identities and his real name was Babloo Mondal whereas in his locality he was known as Sanjay. Further, he also had a driving license with name of Vijay on it,” said Biswal.

For the past few days, Babloo and the victim were having arguments. He confessed that he disliked her because she was dominating.

The DCP said, “On April 23, accused purchased a bottle of liquor. After reaching home, he offered the drink to Sabitri. They both drank together and at around 11.00 PM, when she was not in her consciousness, Babloo alias Sanjay slit her throat with the knife and also stabbed her on neck. When he was confident that she was dead, he silt the throat of the minor boy who was sleeping nearby.”  After killing both the woman and her son, he dumped the knife and his blood stained clothes at Okhla Phase 2 and fled to West Bengal and later fled to Jharkhand. At his instance, the knife and blood stained clothes have been seized, he added.
