With the spurt in the number of crime against women, the Delhi Commission for Women wrote a letter to lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Thursday and highlighted lack of coordination amongst various agencies to deal with the issues pertaining to crime against women.

“Delhi has a fractured mandate of the Central and State Government on safety and security of women. While the Delhi Police is controlled by the Central Government, some aspects of women safety fall under the Delhi Government. It is often observed that due to lack of coordination amongst various agencies, justice is denied to victims of heinous crime,” said DCW chief Swati Maliwal asked.

Maliwal pointed out that the even after a month into the first coordination committee on women safety was held, the minutes of the meeting were not given to the Commission and no action has been taken on the issues raised by them. “Moreover, no communication with regards to the next meeting of the Committee has been received,” Maliwal added.

Recently, three incidents that shook the Capital include a 18-year-old girl who was trafficked from West Bengal and sold several times in Delhi and other States.
