Maken calls Bedi a 'traitor'

A day after former IPS officer and social activist Kiran Bedi joined the BJP, Congress campaign committee in-charge and face of the party, former Union Minister Ajay Maken launched a scathing attack on her by terming her a traitor for joining hands with “communal forces.”  The Congress leader criticised both Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal saying both rode on the shoulders of social activist Anna Hazare to launch India Against Corruption to create an atmosphere against politicians. “Now it is crystal clear that they were doing this to fulfil their political ambitions.”

Maken, who is also the party’s chief spokesperson, said it was Bedi who had criticised Kejriwal for launching a political party. “Now she herself has stabbed Anna in the back.” The Congress leader went a step further suggesting that one should not be surprised if both the BJP and the AAP join hands after the elections.

He said that he was confident that the Congress would form Government on its own. “But if there is a fractured mandate, I am sure both the power hungry BJP and AAP may join hands to form the Government.” Maken said both the AAP and the BJP comprises the same set of people. He said: “Kejriwal’s links with certain organisations of the RSS and proximity of Kumar Vishwas with BJP were well known facts. Kejriwal was even part of the deliberations of the Vivekananda Foundation and Swadeshi Jagran Manch.”

The Congress leader said that when a hue and cry was raised during the Anna movement against corruption, he himself was busy in fact finding related to the CWG against former Union Minister Suresh Kalmadi, who ultimately landed up in jail. “I had been putting pressure on the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax department to get the IPl related cases investigated.” Maken, who himself is contesting from Delhi Sadar, said it was the Congress party which was following Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption crusade in the country. “We are the real soldiers fighting against corruption in the country.”
