Raising the concern over open defecation in slum colonies, BJP's National Secretary Sardar RP Singh has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Singh, in his letter mentioned that women are being forced to defecate in open due to usage charges being taken in Government Public Toilets around jhuggi clusters.
"It is ironical indeed that even after 70 years of Independence, Delhiites on every morning wake up to a very embarrassing sight of women with covered faces, squatting to relieve themselves," said the BJP leader.
"Fee charge for using these toilets is very high and fee can be more than 300-400 rupees per month for women in a family and becomes unbearable if the toilet is used by all the women and girls at home," Singh added.
Requesting to Kejriwal, the BJP leaders said, " In all the 675 Jhuggi Clusters of Delhi arrange to provide for public bathing spaces for women only along with making public toilets usage charge free for them." "During my 10 month tenure as the MlA, I had similarly arranged for eight public bathing spaces in Sangam Colony cluster," he said.
