Major Nikhil Rai Handa, arrested for murdering the wife of lieutenant Colonel Amit Dwivedi is changing his statements quite frequently and is not cooperating in the ongoing probe. His interrogators say, he is remorseless and has not expressed regret even once during his interrogation. He has been avoiding questions about the murder and appears to have mentally prepared himself.
He is giving impressions that he can get away with it and has been steadfast in denying the presence of the murder weapon which is very crucial for the police. Investigators have summoned the younger brother of Major Handa and his uncle to join the probe. An official privy to the investigation said that the accused had shared his plans about the murder and they had helped him escape after the crime.
He is being interrogated by the sleuths as the murder of weapon used by him in the bone-chilling murder has not been recovered. A West district police team took him to all the places o Tuesday, where he had reportedly gone after murdering Shailza Dwivedi.
“Major Handa was taken to the Base hospital at Dhaula Kuan, then to Cantt Metro station, Brar Square to recreate the sequence of events. He was again taken to the Base hospital and then to Saket and to the adjoining areas. He was then taken to Nehru Place, Ashram and Akshardham. He kept on changing his statements and did not tell the police where he threw the knife that he had bought from Sadar Bazar in North Delhi, a police official said.
“We are planning to take him to Meerut on Wednesday to recover the knife and the clothes that he wore at the time of murder”, the official added.
The psychological profiling of the accused Major Handa has revealed that he had several Facebook profiles and he used to chat with different women from his profiles. He used to hide his real identity with his Facebook women friends. It has been also found that used to delete such accounts after some time. West district police has sought help of the Cyber Cell to identify his fictitious facebook accounts.
Handa reportedly told the sleuths that it was Shailza who was after him. We are not believing his statements as he is trying to put onus of the relationship on Shailza. Since she is no more, the accused is blaming her. This is nothing more than the clever ploy to save himself. The probe carried out so far has revealed that Major was obsessed with her and has been following her wherever she went, the official said.
Handa's obsession with Shaiza could be judged by the fact that he made over three thousand calls to her and sent some 1500 text messages. The call records show that it was Handa who was either calling or texting her. He even went and met Shailza's parents in Amritsar twice, they said.
As per the plan Handa came to Delhi and got himself admitted to the Base hospital for migraine. He even admitted his son to the hospital for some stomach infection as he wanted to be nearer to Shailza and talk to her.
On the fateful Saturday, Handa asked Shailza to sit in his car before he drove her around Cantonment for nearly two hours. It has been revealed that Handa proposed to her that both should divorce their spouses and marry each other. But Shailza refused and this enraged Handa called up his wife and put the call on speakerphone and started talking loudly to give impression that he was seeking divorce from his wife, an investigator said.
That was his last ditch effort to convince her to agree to his proposal but she refused him on his face. He pulled out the knife and started stabbing her. She caught hold of the accused and he tried to wriggle out of her grasp. He pushed her out of his car and then to ensure that she was dead, he ran over her.
He then took his car to his home and cleaned it thoroughly to obliterate traces of blood but forensic experts lifted blood sampled and the same has been sent to DNA fingerprinting. The accuse also destroyed the two phones of Shailza by breaking it to pieces and dumping it near his home.”We have found the phones and fingerprints and Shailza's hair from Handa's car. Handa also deleted many apps from his and her phones. Cyber cell team is trying to retrieve them,” the official added.
Meanwhile Shailza's body was cremated by her family membersr in Amritsar on Tuesday. Her family members denied that there was a relationship between the tow. They now want severe punishment to the accused.
