Crossing railway tracks listening to music on the headphones proved costly for a Class XII student when a train ran over him in Vijay Nagar area on Monday afternoon. According to police, the deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Vishal, who lived with his family in Pratap Vihar area of Ghaziabad. Police said the incident took place at 12.30 pm when he was crossing railway tracks with his earphones on.
“Some witnesses told the police that Vishal had his earphones on and was listening to music on his mobile phone. He crossed the tracks oblivious to an oncoming Jalandhar Express,” said a police officer. The officer also said it seems Vishal was distracted; he could not hear or see the train approaching him, adding, he died on the spot after being hit by the train. Police have sent his body for a post-mortem exam and further investigation is on.
