Terming the proposal of the Delhi Government to provide free ridership to women passengers in Delhi Metro and buses run by ‘Delhi Transport Corporation’ in ‘six months’ an election gimmick, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is making this attempt knowing that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) would come in force in Delhi by the end of six months.
Gupta said that it cannot be overlooked that Kejriwal put obstacles in the implementation of Metro Phase IV and failed to buy even a single new DTC bus during its tenure of four and a half years. Now there is no point in shedding crocodile tears over women passengers of Delhi Metro and DTC.
“Kejriwal Government has even now not given approval to the Delhi Metro Phase IV on two technical grounds. It is shameful that after approving in-principle, he put spokes in the run of Metro Phase IV in this undesirable manner,” he said, adding that these objections are uncalled for but the whole
spirit of non-cooperation exposes AAP Government’s political ill-will.
