leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta on Tuesday demanded judicial probe into the house collapse at Mohan Garden a day ago that claimed three lives. He said a number of agencies were responsible for providing civic services in unauthorised colony.
“Since the deaths have taken place due to negligence of the Delhi Government, the aggrieved family must be paid adequate compensation so that it could rebuild the house and carry out other important works,” said Gupta.
He also demanded that the Government must carry out a survey for identification of dangerous houses in unauthorised colonies, JJ Clusters and resettlement colonies. “Meanwhile alternate arrangement should be made to provide accommodation. The Kejriwal Government had promised civic facilities in at least 200 unauthorised colonies within a period of one year of coming into power. The present Government has been in power for more than one and half year. But nothing has been done so far,” said Gupta.
Gupta added that sewer lines have not been laid in a single unauthorised colony. “The Delhi Jal Board laid sewer lines in Mohan Nagar without proper planning and method leading to back flow of water,” he said.
