LoP seeks CBI probe into ‘serious irregularities’ in Govt scheme

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta demanded a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into alleged “serious irregularities” in Delhi Government’s scheme of providing free pathology lab facilities, high value diagnostic tests and surgeries.

Speaking in the Assembly, Gupta said that a three-member committee in its report to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has highlighted serious irregularities in the system in Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital.

Gupta said that private laboratories send their employees in the hospital to collect sample.

“GTB hospital is biggest hospital and people from outer Delhi come here for the treatment. The touts enter in hospital to collect sample despite having inbuilt laboratories in the hospital,” said Gupta.

The failure in the hospital has brought under scanner the facilities provided in all Delhi Government hospitals, he said.

Gupta said that the report revealed that the Hospital was referring patient to private labs for tests which was also available in the Hospital.

“It was also found that cases were reported where patients were being recharged for surgeries which were as per Government rule free of cost,” he said.
