loP accuses Delhi Govt of delaying Metro projects

leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta has accused the Delhi Government of inaction and due to which Delhi Metro projects are running behind the schedule.

Gupta said, “Presently, the Delhi Metro is serving 30 lakh passengers per day on its 217 km of existing Metro line infrastructure. On completion of the third phase of Delhi Metro, that includes additional 100 kms of metro line, the passenger movement would rise to 50 lakhs per day.”

It would drastically shorten the distance for various journeys and bring down the fare prices as well.

BJP leader said that the Phase-III of Delhi Metro was planned to be completed by December 16, 2016. “Due to inaction of the Delhi Government the work was delayed by over 15 months, the answers for which he would demand during the Delhi Assembly session to be held on Monday,” he added further.

He further said that the Phase-IV of the Delhi Metro that would have provided metro connectivity to 40 lakh passengers living in the far-flung areas of the national Capital, has also been delayed for over two-and-a-half-years because the Kejriwal Government did not agree to financing of this phase on the lines adopted for the earlier phases.

“Delhi Government must provide answer as to why it causing bottlenecks in completion of Metro line projects in areas majorly inhabited by people from labour class as well as rural areas,” Gupta reacted.
