loP accuses AAP of giving step-motherly treatment to people living in slums

Published on:

leader of opposition (lOP) in Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been according step motherly treatment to people living in slums during last three years.  Gupta said that the Government has failed to fulfill promises made by AAP during election campaigning.

Gupta further said that they had promised rehabilitation of the slum dwellers. However, in the past three years not even a single slum out of 1100 slum clusters in Delhi has been rehabilitated.

When Gupta asked written explanation about the wok done for slum dwellers, the reply came that Jahan Jhuggi, Wahi Makaan has not been given a final form. Further, the funds of just Rs. 25 lakhs allocated for the scheme for the year 2017-18, too, remain unutilized by the Delhi government.

Gupta also said that it is unfortunate that the Delhi government has failed to allocate 20000 ready flats meant for residents of Jhuggi colony since the past two years. He said that the Delhi government had received 70000 per flat from almost 7000 slum residents, but it has deliberately halted their allocation as well.

AAP Government had also promised to provide water connection to the home of every slum dweller. “ But no new connection has reached people so far. In fact, people are suffering from poor system of community water distribution and are craving for each drop of water,” he said.

“One lakh poor households who are entitled to subsidized ration under the National Food Security Act 2013 are not being provided with  ration cards,” said Gupta.
