A 21-year-old was electrocuted outside his house late on Saturday, when he came in contact with a live wire hanging from an electricity pole. Ramzan Ansari had been living with his family in North East Delhi's Old Mustafabad area for the past 10 years.
"The victim was returning from a local market and accidentally touched a wire hanging in his street. The wire had come loose in a storm," said a senior police officer. Ansari was taken to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital but did not survive. His neighbours staged an angry protest outside Karawal Nagar Police Station on Sunday afternoon and pelted stones at police vehicles.
The family blamed BSES employees for negligence and claimed that if the electricians had come on time, their son would be alive. "locals said BSES employees did not come despite repeated phone calls. Based on their complaint, a case of negligence has been registered against BSES and a probe is on," said the officer.
