Hundreds of local residents blocked Wazirabad road on Monday evening after the body of a 21-year-old youth was found from a drain in North-West Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar area. The family members of the victim alleged that police did not take any action on time and did not lodge a missing complaint.
Police said that the victim identified as Pradeep, who worked as an auto driver, went missing under mysterious circumstances on March 3. The victim’s father later approached the Timarpur police station of North Delhi and informed them about his missing. Surprisingly, instead of registering a case, police told them to search him. The family members of the victim have alleged that the police did not even lodge a missing complaint till March 6.
“On Monday afternoon, the victim body was found and later agitated people blocked the road. They raised anti-police slogans. Extra force had to be deployed in the area and senior police officers reached the spot,” the officer added. A case of murder has now been registered and police have sent the dead body for postmortem.
