Now, the Delhi Assembly will render a live telecast of all House proceedings of the Monsoon Session on the Internet, beginning Tuesday.

Announcing at a Press conference, Delhi Assembly speaker Dr Yoganand Shastri said that after the Bihar and Rajasthan Assemblies, the Delhi Assembly will be the third State in India to enable a live webcast of House proceedings.

“On the homepage of the legislative Assembly’s website — delhiassembly.nic.in, click the link ‘live webcast of assembly proceedings’. Apart from the live webcast, date-wise recording of the proceedings will be there on the website for sufficient time,” said Dr Shastri.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) will develop the software for the project, which was recently approved by the Delhi IT department. The total cost of the project will be around Rs11 lakh and the estimated recurring cost of running the system will be Rs5 lakh annually, including Rs3.5 lakh for providing manpower and Rs1 lakh of webcast charges.

Meanwhile, the Opposition BJP has listed discussions on two issues in the Delhi Assembly’s Monsoon Session beginning Tuesday. First, Government betraying those living in unauthorised colonies, jhuggi-jhopris, resettlement and rural areas; and second, scarcity and tariff hike of electricity.

On the other hand, Congress MlAs have listed issues related to MCDs such as scams in the name of medical colleges, lack of civic amenities under the three Municipal Corporations and how to improve the law and order situation in the Capital.

During the three-day session, the  Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (Amendment) Bill 2013 will be introduced as well.
