Providing relief to Delhiites, the Capital may witness light rain on Monday. While officials in the Met department have predicted a general cloudy sky, the humidity level may, however, soar up. Moreover, rain is likely to continue for the next three to four days.

“The dry spell may leave Monday onwards, paving way for light showers. The maximum temperature is expected to be 35 degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum may remain at 29 degree. The sky will be clear initially, but later will be partly cloudy. Some areas may witness a general cloudy sky. Thunderstorms are likely to occur in some parts as well. Weather conditions are likely to remain the same for the coming four days,” said an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD)

The city saw a sunny Sunday morning with a clear sky.  The minimum temperature was recorded at 29.8 degrees Celsius which was two notches above average for this time of the year. The maximum temperature, on the other hand, settled at 39.6 degree, which also was two degrees above average. “The maximum humidity was 74 per cent, while the minimum was 39 per cent. The humidity at 8.30 am was 70 per cent,” he said.

Monsoon arrived in Delhi last Sunday, a fortnight ahead of schedule, but the National Capital has not received rain since then. “This is due to the weak phase of monsoon where there is no Easterly winds coming towards Delhi which contains the maximum amount of moisture. Delhi is experiencing only Westerly winds which are dry,” he added.
