light showers are expected in some parts of Delhi and NCR on Wednesday. Weather across the Delhi-NCR has become very humid and warm due to absence of rain and prevalence of easterly winds. Due to this, the mercury level also jumped up to settle a few notches above the maximum.

“The maximum temperature was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, while the minimum settled at 23 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal,” a MeT official said. Humidity levels oscillated between 87 and 59 per cent. The weatherman has predicted a cloudy sky for Wednesday with the possibility of light rain towards the evening. “Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 38 and 28 degrees Celsius,” the official added.

“Today Max temp reported at 17.30 hrs IST (mm): Safdarjung-36.5, Palam 37.0 lodi Road-36.8, Ayanagar-35.7, Ridge-36.0,” Regional Weather Forecasting Center (RWFC), New Delhi tweeted.

According to a private weather forecast organization , Skymet, as the trough which was over south of Delhi has shifted towards north of the national capital. And due to this dry westerly winds have taken over the easterly winds thereby reducing the humidity levels. “This is the reason that despite the rise in the mercury levels, the feel like temperature is not very high and so is the discomfort level,” Skymet mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy weather. In their weekly forecast, IMD has predicted moderate rainfall on July 6  and July 7.
