light rain expected in coming days: Met dept

Wednesday’s warm and sunny day gave way to rainfall in the evening in different parts of the Capital. The Met department has predicted light rain in the coming days, which is expected to pull down temperatures by a few degrees.

“It was warm throughout the day, but moderate to heavy rain lashed several parts of the city including South, East and West Delhi. Due to a western disturbance being active over the region, the Capital is likely to get more rainfall in the coming two days,” said a Met official. Delhiites experienced a warm and sunny Wednesday with the maximum temperature recorded at 26.2 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season’s average. The minimum temperature settled at 12.5 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season’s average. Humidity levels oscillated between 93 and 49 per cent.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Thursday the day will start with shallow fog and the sky will remain cloudy throughout the day. “Possibility of rain and thundershowers cannot be ruled out in the coming days,” added an official.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 24 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius. According to the Northern Railways, 10 trains were running late on Wednesday due to fog. However, flights operated without any delays in the Capital, said a spokesperson for Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Tuesday too was warm and sunny as the maximum temperature settled at 25.2 degrees Celsius - average for the season, while the minimum was recorded two notches below average at 10.3 degrees Celsius.
