The Delhi Government plans to digitise all its libraries in the national Capital. The Arvind Kejriwal Government is also planning to make e-books available in all its libraries. These directions were made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during his review meeting with the officers of the nine departments on Saturday. Kejriwal was also impressed with the presentation of information technology vis-à-vis WiFi. Providing free WiFi across the city was one of the major poll promises of the Aam Aadmi Party during its campaign for the Delhi elections.

Sources said that the CM has categorically told his officers to provide maximum services through online. Among the officers present in the review meeting were from Finance, Home, Information Technology, Art and Culture and languages Department. The CM specifically told the IT and the languages Department to even increase the number of the administration’s libraries all over the city.

Kejriwal is said to have told his officers that they should update the administrations portals on a regular basis. He also directed the IT department to make all the libraries available online. During the meeting, it was pointed out to the CM that there was an acute shortage of Urdu teachers in the city. The CM, in turn, directed his officers to immediately draw up a comprehensive plan to fulfil all the vacant seats for the Urdu teachers.

The CM also instructed his men to speed up the process of setting up of 47 new fast-track courts in the city. He said that he wanted speedy justice system to be put in place so that there was no backlog of the pending cases. Kejriwal is said to have repeatedly told his officers that he was very serious about fulfilling all the promises his Government had made in its manifesto during the elections. He instructed all the departments to carefully study the manifesto and draw up action plans to implement all the promises made in it.

As far as providing free WiFi connectivity is concerned, the CM is said to have told that he would ensure this ambitious project was completed all over the city within a year. He said that his blueprint for the WiFi connectivity was ready and would be implemented in a phased manner.
