Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor (l-G) VK Saxena on Monday inaugurated the ‘eSanjeevani’ OPD project — an App-based National Medical Tele-consultation Service under the aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at the MCD-run Hindu Rao Hospital in the Capital. With this, the MCD and Hindu Rao Hospital became the first organisations to provide 24X7 medical services through the ‘eSanjeevani’ platform. The L-G said: “This initiative will provide specialised healthcare consultation to lakhs of patients in remote areas throughout the country and facilitate communication among healthcare experts for better patient care, which has been the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Appreciating the project, he added that this platform will benefit patients in terms of medical advice from the comfort of their homes, access to expert medical advice without referral, reduced visit to hospitals and provide the much-desired benefits to chronic patients, the elderly and pensioners. It will not only promote easily accessible and dispersible health education to people at large, but will also help doctors access comprehensive digital data of the patients, quick & timely follow-up and improved patient management.

The L-G said that it was a matter of great satisfaction that the MCD undertook to launch a program that symbolises the congruence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two visionary and flagship schemes of Jan Aarogya Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Digital India.

He underlined that the Hindu Rao Hospital had taken a huge step forward of implementing this ambitious project, and expressed the hope that the MCD will successfully discharge this onerous responsibility. Addressing the Doctors, Staff and officers present on the occasion, Saxena said that he was aware of the problems and challenges that the hospital was facing and assured them that he would leave no stone unturned to address and solve these issues in a time-bound manner.

The Hindu Rao Hospital and its associated Medical College have a glorious history and I am committed to not only restoring its glory but taking it to newer heights as an exemplary centre of excellence in Medical Services and Public Healthcare, he added.

To achieve this goal he appealed to the Doctors, Paramedics, technicians and support staffs to commit themselves as proactive stakeholders and adopt the establishment as their own.

The Lt. Governor stressed that the biggest public health challenge that the National Capital was facing was that of pollution – be it that of water or air, garbage and overall environmental degradation, and addressing them was his prime concern. Overcoming this challenge would require committed and concerted efforts from all stakeholders- government agencies and departments, civil society and NGOs and above all, every resident of Delhi, he said. He took the opportunity to reiterate his appeal to the people of Delhi to come forward and participate as equal stakeholders in the task of transforming the National Capital.

On his part, he would personally oversee seamless inter-departmental and inter-agency coordination to ensure that the goals established and decisions taken are implemented in a time-bound manner, Shri Saxena said. No lapses on part of anyone concern will be tolerated and accountability for every task will be fixed, the LG underlined.
